Dural Flossing: median nerve floss

A mobility exercise for the upper extremity, gently tensioning the median nerve from the distal end and then the proximal end.

  • gently tilt the head towards the affected side
  • gently depress the scapula
  • lift the arm to approx 90 degrees
  • straighten the elbow
  • supinate (turn the palm face up)
  • extend the wrist
  • hold position for a few seconds
  • now relieve the tension in the upper extremity by lessening all the movements described above
  • move the head and neck away from the affected arm and hold for a few seconds
  • move back and forth between these two positions, repeat as needed
  • NOTE: only work within the comfortable range
