Dural Flossing: radial nerve floss
A mobility exercise for the upper extremity, gently tensioning the radial nerve from the distal end and then the proximal end.
- gently tilt the head towards the affected side
- gently depress the scapula
- make a loose fist while tucking your thumb into your fingers
- extend the whole upper extremity behind your body (reach back)
- flex the wrist
- internally rotate the arm (rotate it inwards)
- hold position for a few seconds
- now relieve the tension in the upper extremity by lessening all the movements described above
- move the head and neck away from the affected arm and hold for a few seconds
- move back and forth between these two positions, repeat as needed
- NOTE: only work within the comfortable range
