Dural Flossing: ulnar nerve floss

A mobility exercise for the upper extremity, gently tensioning the ulnar nerve from the distal end and then the proximal end.

  • gently tilt the head towards the affected side
  • gently depress the scapula
  • lift the arm to approx 90 degrees
  • bend the elbow
  • turn the palm face up
  • extend the wrist
  • hold position for a few seconds
  • now relieve the tension in the upper extremity by lessening all the movements described above
  • move the head and neck away from the affected arm and hold for a few seconds
  • move back and forth between these two positions, repeat as needed
  • NOTE: only work within the comfortable range
