Controlled Articular Rotations: Hip in standing
Active mobility exercise for the lower extremity, focused on the hip joint
- standing with one foot off the ground, ensuring that you are “standing tall” and not collapsing at the hip
- in a slow and controlled manner, lift the leg up, then outwards, then down and back to the center, all in a circular fashion
- this movement can be done in both directions (clockwise and counter-clockwise)
- repeat as needed
- NOTE: if one’s balance is poor, this exercise can be done with support
