Shoulder mobility: Assisted external rotation

Basic shoulder mobility exercise for external rotation, using a stick or dowel, with the movement assisted by the opposite arm.

  • With arms at sides, elbows bent to 90 degrees, grasp a dowel with both hands, roughly shoulder-width apart
  • keeping the elbows at the sides, move the dowel to one side to stretch the front of one shoulder
  • Move back the dowel back and forth as needed
