Thoracic extension expansion with chair

Thoracic extension and expansion active exercise using a bench or chair.

  • start in a 4-point kneeling position (hands and knees)
  • bending both your arms up, rest your elbows on a chair in front of you.
  • maintain a neutral spine (ie: normal curves) and don’t drop your head
  • gently drop your chest downwards within the comfortable range
  • incorporate some deep breathing, focusing on expanding your thorax as much as is comfortable
  • you may focus on certain aspects of the thorax depending on your needs
  • repeat as needed
