(VIDEO) ▶️ 1st ray toe stretch

Stretch for the big toe, or 1st MTP (metatarsophalangeal) joint into dorsiflexion.

  • sitting with one leg crossed over the other, with the ankle resting on the opposite knee
  • support the heel with one hand and grasp the big toe with the other hand
  • pull the toe into dorsiflexion (flexed up towards the shin) until a stretch is felt
  • besure to keep the toe moving straight up, ie: not veering to one side or the other
  • hold and repeat as needed
