(VIDEO) ▶️ Low back stabilization from sitting
Recruitment exercise for the low back segmental stabilizers from sitting, focusing on increasing voluntary control of multifidii.
- sitting with a neutral spine, place the thumbs on the lowest part of the spine, close together, just on either side of the spinous processes
- keeping most of the spine neutral, try to engage the deep back extensors (multifidii) by extending (tilting forwards) just the lowermost spinal vertebra (L5)
- relax these muscles
- repeat as needed
