(VIDEO) ▶️ Upper thoracic extension dissociation

An exercise working on dissociating upper thoracic extension from lower thoracic extension.

  • sitting upright with your shoulders relaxed
  • rest one hand on your sternum with the other hand on the front of the lower ribcage
  • focus on extending your upper thorax without using your lower thorax or lumbar spine (ie: no movement in the bottom hand and no arching of the low back)
  • return to the start position
  • repeat as needed
